I completed a rural residency in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and then moved to Madison, Wisconsin to join the Family Medicine Department. There I first spent three years completing a research fellowship and a MPH. I then joined the faculty and completed my PhD in Population Health Sciences. My clinical practice was at a local FQHC. I was involved in different teaching roles with medical students and residents, including as medical director for one of the student run free clinics, and director of the resident community health rotation. I also enjoyed mentoring students with research projects involving vulnerable populations (e.g. refugees, justice-involved), and clinical faculty interested in scholarship that related to what they were doing to redesign and innovate in primary care. My own research program over the past several years has involved studying the way primary care teams can engage their patients in improving the quality of care, and ways to amplify the voices of patients with diverse experiences of illness through participatory engagement and storytelling. I moved here with my husband, Alex, who is also a family doc, and two kids ages 11 and 7. In my free time I enjoy reading, singing, and learning new things-which New Mexico has been wonderful for!
