Dr. Valerie Carrejo did her undergraduate, medical school (2004) and residency training (2007) at the University of New Mexico. She is board certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. Following residency, she worked in the community setting and then returned to join our faculty in 2012. She is currently Assistant Professor and Medical Director of our North Valley clinic.

Dr. Carrejo continues to practice full spectrum primary care, including obstetrics, and has a passion for treating patients with substance use disorders. She also has a background in Toxicology and is enthusiastic about teaching the continued nuances of drug screening and interpretation. She loves to work with students and residents and is always encouraging learners to explore primary care and Family Medicine.

  • Certified in office based treatment of opioid use disorders with buprenorphine
