Maternal Child Health Fellowship & Milagro Program


Dr. Gopman received her medical degree from the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine in Portland in June 2000. She graduated from the UNM Family Medicine Residency Program in June 2003. In November 2005, Dr. Gopman completed a Maternal and Child Health Fellowship in our department, and then joined our faculty as an Assistant Professor but was promoted to Associate Professor in the Clinican Educator Track in 2015. Dr. Gopman enjoys teaching fellows, residents, and medical students and serves as the Education Director for the Maternal Child Health Program. She trains our Family Medicine Maternal and Child Health fellows and Obstetrical residents in pregnancy management, cesarean section, tubal ligation, and basic ultrasound. She also delivers prenatal care to a variety of communities, including rural and Spanish-speaking patients. She has a special interest in the care of women affected by substance abuse during pregnancy, as well as their families, including management of opiate dependence and neonatal abstinence syndrome. She attends in the Milagro clinic and on the Maternal and Child Health Service, as well as in the Intermediate Care Nursery.
